Michael began his career as a staff accountant in the consolidation department at Paramount Communications. After working as a PA on "Sex and the City" for one season, he landed at Air Sea Land Productions where after a few quick years he became Director of Operations.
A graduate of the University of Michigan and an award winning screenwriter, Michael J. Warner in the past 8 years has expanded his scope to directing and producing short films and documentaries. Michael wrote, directed and produced the 16-minute HD short called “Shocked Jock” which was an official selection of eight film festivals such as the Newport Beach FF and the Harlem FF. It has screened at the Magic Johnson Theater, Mann’s Chinese Theater and at the Tribeca Cinemas.
Michael also produced “A Younger Man” with his lead actress from “Shocked Jock.” “A Younger Man” is a heartwarming tale about a couple in their twilight years. It has screened at more than eight film festivals including LA Shorts, the Ft. Lauderdale FF and the Big Apple FF.
“Flux,” a 7-minute short film written by Michael and co-produced with Director Zachary Spira-Bauer of ASL, was an official selection of five film festivals including the New Hampshire FF and the Denver Underground FF.
In conjunction with ASL, hscusa.tv and the NYC Department of Health, Michael and his producing partner, Cat Parker, developed and produced an informative and interesting documentary about Hepatitis – “Stay Healthy and Hep Free.” The doc went beyond the standard talking-head fare by mixing information from doctors, from people on the street via Q&A and from patients and health care providers in a roundtable discussion.

Overall, Michael has written 12 feature-film screenplays, 4 original TV dramas, 3 original sitcoms and 3 short films. He has been a finalist 14 times in screenwriting competitions.
